My name is Wendy Robinette!
Hey there! I’m a Southern Wedding and Portrait Photographer, homeschool mom to to two tween girls, living on a tiny farm in Natchitoches, Louisiana. I am married to my best friend Jason, puppy mama to the cutest little GoldenDoodle named Phoenix, and embracing a simple life in the country after living in a big city most of my life.
After living in Nashville, TN for over twenty years where I learned to balance marriage, homeschool, and motherhood while also running an extremely successful wedding photography business, I moved back home to Natchitoches, La to be closer to my father and our family farm. Several years after this move my husband Jason and I found ourselves in the middle of an adoption of a precious nine year old little girl, who by a series of God orchestrated events began living with us after being abandoned by her mother and later finding her father deceased.
Adoption was NEVER on our radar, but God obviously had other plans for us. We are still in the process of this adoption, and it has definitely been an emotional rollercoaster. This precious little girl, who is very aware of her losses and her pain, deserves a forever family that loves her. It is through this adoption also that I have learned exactly why God brought me into this season.
Life in rural Louisiana has been such a blessing. It has allowed me to slow down and focus on what is truly important. It has allowed me to find joy in everything about my life. Don’t get me wrong. I love Nashville where I was living before. Nashville is probably one of the friendliest cities in the world. But I found myself getting lost in a world full of “keeping busy.” It is funny how God closes some doors and opens others. If I hadn’t felt the need to get away from the busy lifestyle I was living in Nashville, I would have never moved to Louisiana. If I had never moved to Louisiana, I would have never met this little girl who Jason and I are now adopting. There are so many details like this that I call “God orchestrated events” that led me to this tiny backyard farm in the middle of nowhere and in the middle of adopting this precious little girl.
Most days you can find me at home learning to grow vegetables, and raising chickens, ducks, rabbits, and soon to be goats. HAHA. Anyone who truly knows me laughs at this idea because I have never been raised in the country. But I traded in my Jimmy Choo’s for muck boots (most days), because who doesn’t love baby farm animals? And to be honest… this simple little life of mine has done wonders for my soul. It has allowed me to slow down and be present, and to find joy in simplicity.
Slowing down and finding joy in the details of my life seems to be a theme that I have grown very fond of. For this reason I only accept a certain number of weddings per year. This is hard for me, because I absolutely love traveling all over the southern states shooting beautiful weddings. Weddings are truly food for my soul! But God brought this little girl into our lives for a reason, and I need to focus on being home with her more often. So if you are looking to book me for your wedding, be sure to contact me as far in advance as possible. I will only be accepting a small number of weddings outside of Louisiana for now. But trust me! I look forward to traveling for work when I can. I wish I could live on the road!
My Better Half!
Jason happens to be the sweetest, most gentle soul I’ve ever met… despite his big bearded tough guy appearance. He is my big teddy bear and I am so blessed to have him by my side! I love this man’s heart with every single breath I have. He is my biggest encourager and supporter, and I am blessed to have him by my side.
