How to make sourdough pancakes using your sourdough discard

Sourdough Pancakes

Don't throw away your sourdough discard when you are feeding your sourdough starter. Make sourdough pancakes instead!

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 Stick Melted but cooled butter
  • 2 Large Eggs Room temp
  • 3/4 Cup Milk We use Oat Milk, but regular milk works too.
  • 1 tsp Vanilla
  • 1 Cup Sourdough starter discard Fed or Unfed. Either one is fine.
  • 1 Cup Unbleached All Purpose Flour Can also use Whole Wheat Flour
  • 1 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1 tsp Baking Soda
  • 1 tsp Salt

Instructions
 

  • Stir all of your wet ingredients together in a large mixing bowl.
  • Mix all of your dry ingredients in a separate bowl.
  • Then add your mixed dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, and stir until a smooth batter is formed. If you think your batter is too runny, add small amounts of flour until desired consistency.
  • If you think your batter is too runny, add small amounts of flour until desired consistency. If you think your batter is too thick, add small amounts of milk until desired consistency. Everyone has a different preference.
  • Pour approximately 1/2 cup of batter onto your greased skillet or griddle and cook until golden brown on both sides.
