I don’t know about you, but MY daughter seems to catch every single little bug that she comes into contact with. Even though we are a homeschool family we still spend vast amounts of time with people in our community. But I could only imagine how sick she would have stayed all the time if she actually went to school with other kids. Keeping everyone healthy can sometimes feel like a chore, but I have a secret weapon to share. There is one simple way to keep kids healthy!
There are tons of different reasons for why some people have stronger immune systems than others. It could be due to anything as simple as the foods we eat, the air that we breathe, or the way that our bodies respond to the ingredients that are present in the household and beauty products that we use. Regardless of the cause there are a few natural ingredients that we can use to strengthen our health.
One Simple Way To Keep Kids Healthy
One simple way to keep kids healthy is to give them a detox bath at least once a week. We actually take detox baths up to three times per week, but even more if we begin to see signs that someone is getting sick. That’s how much we love them! To give your child a detox bath, simply run a warm bath and add one cup of Epsom Salt and a quarter cup of Baking Soda. The Baking Soda helps to detox their bodies by pulling out all the impurities, while the Epsom Salt soaks into their system giving it the added benefit of magnesium and sulfate.
Magnesium and sulfate both have MAJOR benefits to our health. They both play roles in keeping our bodies working properly. Just Google it! You will be surprised to see how powerful these two little natural ingredients are. I don’t know about you, but I remember my mother and my grandmother making me take a bath with Epsom Salt when I was little. I didn’t know why at the time, but I certainly know why now.
Want to add some extra goodness to your detox bath? Stir in a few drops of essential oil into your salts before adding it to the warm bath water. One of my personal favorites to add to the girls’ bath is lavender oil from Young Living. Lavender helps to calm and relax them so that when they lay down for the night they sleep soundly. Yes I could buy lavender scented Epsom Salt, but that kind of defeats the purpose of a detox bath since the lavender scent in the salt comes from artificial ingredients that are mostly toxic. We want to get rid of toxins, not add more!
Detox baths are not just for kids. I take them regularly as well. I call it my “me time.” I find it so relaxing after a long day of schoolwork and housework. A detox bath pairs well with a glass of merlot. Just saying. 🙂
Make detox baths part of your self-care routine for both you and your babies. I started giving Stormi detox baths when she was two years old. They are perfectly safe for that age. Once you make detox baths a regular part of your life, you will soon find that you all stay healthier. And if you do end up catching a cold or some other bug, you will notice a huge decrease in the amount of time that it takes you to feel better.
