The day that we have been waiting for for two whole years finally came! Adoption Day! January 22, 2020 will forever be one of the most important days in our lives, because it is the day that Addison officially became our daughter.
If you have been following our story for any amount of time, then you probably already know that Jason and I had been in the process of adopting a little girl for two years. We never PLANNED on adoption. Adoption wasn’t on our radar. But this little girl came into our lives by what I like to call a series of God Orchestrated Events, and we knew that God planned for us to be her parents.
When couples set out to adopt a child, they usually have the opportunity to save money or fundraise BEFORE they have a child in their arms. Some couples save and fundraise for several years before ever contacting an adoption agency. Adoption is expensive! There is no sugar coating it. But Addison isn’t a tiny little baby that we had an opportunity to plan for or adopt through an agency. She was already an older child who came to live with us after the death of her father.
Saving and fundraising BEFORE Addison came into our lives was not an option. We never knew that she was going to come into our lives. So we had to depend on our friends and family for help. We setup a GOFund Me account. We sold Tshirts. And I held portrait mini session events for our local community. I don’t know how, but somehow we managed to make it this far! And help actually came from the most unexpected places rather than where we thought it would.
The past two years have been long and difficult. We still aren’t finished paying for everything, but the adoption is final. She is ours. She is safe in a loving family, and she is ours. She will always know that she was important enough for us to go through all of the struggle that we did in order to give her the security of a family.
THANK YOU! Thank you to every single one of you who bought a Tshirt, made a donation, or scheduled a portrait session. Because of YOU, we were able to raise close to $5000 that went toward this adoption. YOU helped give this little girl a family! THANK YOU!
