The last few weeks have been extremely difficult for us. Things have changed and trying to find our new normal after Kirt’s death has been an emotional journey. But for those of us with Christ in us, we know that God will take the ugly and use it for something beautiful! That doesn’t mean our loss isn’t painful. But it does mean that we can look to the future with an eagerness to be a participant in God’s glorious plan. That is something that I would never want to miss out on! How else can we make sense of the pain that we are allowed to go through?
When a soldier first goes to boot camp, they are completely broken down emotionally and physically so that the military can then build them into the soldier they need to be. Ask anyone who has ever gone through boot camp and they will tell you that they reach an emotional low unlike anything they have ever experienced in their life. And this is not much different than the way God works in us. He allows us to go through difficult times and hit rock bottom so that we can learn what He needs us to learn about Him. But it is up to us to pay attention and learn from Him. It is up to us to be a willing participant in His plan. We can either spend the next 20 years of our life trying to peel ourselves off the pavement, or we can pick ourselves up and allow God to use our pain for His glory.
I am so thankful for the promises of God. When we go through hard times then we can rest assured that God is up to something good. It took me way too many years to learn this which caused me to probably miss out on so much of His glory. I never want to be so stuck in my own head that I end up missing out on the beauty ever again. God is good! All the time! We just have to be willing to see it and participate in it.
